PROTECT YOUR EYES AS YOU AGE

One of life’s greatest hurdles is simply growing older. With our eyes, this can mean vision can start to blur, or diseases could start developing over time. However, you can take action before your vision starts to deteriorate by going for regular eye exams.

Some of the most common conditions patients experience as they grow older include myopia, presbyopia, glaucoma, dry eyes, and even cataracts. The severity of these conditions varies from person to person, but you can manage the symptoms with the help of our expert optometrists.

WHY BOOK AN EYE EXAM?

Your eyes play an integral role in maintaining your quality of life. Significantly damaged eyesight will affect how you perform daily tasks, including your performance at work and in your hobbies.

Eye exams are your first defence against eye disease. Glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts can all develop without signs or symptoms at the beginning but can affect your vision permanently if you allow them to develop.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR ADVANCED DISEASE DETECTION

Advancements in optometric diagnostics allow us to detect eye diseases earlier and with more precision than ever before. At Elora Optometry, we’ve invested in cutting-edge technology to better protect your ocular health.

Optos Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging

The Optos ultra-widefield retinal imager takes high-definition photographs of the back of your eyes. Signs of eye disease, stroke, diabetes, and some cancers show signs in the retina before you notice other symptoms.

These detailed images make it easier for us to detect and diagnose these diseases, and they can be saved in your patient file as a benchmark for future exams. The Optos is also non-invasive and safe for all patients, including children!

REQUESTING AN EXAM

Booking an eye exam at Elora Optometry is quick and easy. You can request an appointment on our website or simply give us a call at 519-846-0030 . Our incredible team will work with you to find the time to come in that works best in your day.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR EXAM

When you come in for an eye exam, your optometrist will start by discussing you and your family’s medical history. Knowing your medical history will help inform your optometrist during your exam, as they may be looking for problems that could occur more frequently based on your medical history.

Every single one of our comprehensive eye exams includes visual strength and eye disease testing. This extensive process not only evaluates your eyesight but also gives your optometrist a detailed look into the health of your eyes.

At the end of the exam, your optometrist will provide you with your eye exam results as well as any treatment plans or prescriptions they may recommend.
